The Vendor Access Portal offers third parties a self-service channel where they register, sign in, and request access themselves, so administrators do not need to provision each access manually.
The portal is included with Domum Remote Access and needs no extra license or add-on.
Before releasing the portal to third parties, you need to complete the following configurations:
- Portal: set the general operating parameters
- Available resources: specify which resources vendors can request
- Owners: specify the users who will manage the portal and approve requests
Complete the following steps in order. Read Vendor Access Portal fundamentals to understand what the portal does before you start.
Steps
- Enable and configure the Vendor Access Portal: turn the portal on, copy the address third parties will use to reach it, and restrict which IP ranges and locations can connect.
- Publish resources to the Vendor Access Portal: choose which devices and systems appear in the catalog, and cap how long a third party can hold each one.
- How to add a vendor: register each vendor organization, add its limited users, and restrict the locations they can connect from.
- How to manage user roles: assign Portal Configuration to whoever sets the portal up, and Portal Operator to whoever releases access. Domum Administrator covers both jobs.
- Approve a Vendor Access Portal registration: vet what each applicant submitted, attach them to an organization, and create the account they asked for.
- Review an access request on the Vendor Access Portal: decide each request, attach the credential it will use, and set the period it stays valid.
- Audit Vendor Access Portal activity: trace who requested what, who released it, and which resource they reached.
Expected results
Third parties reach your resources through a queue you control, and every registration, request, and session they produce leaves a trail you can review.
