How to start a remote session in EPM Windows

This document teaches how to start RDP or SSH remote sessions directly from EPM Windows on Windows, without needing to access the web Vault.

Requirements

  • Access to EPM Windows Vault installed on Windows.
  • A credential configured for RDP or SSH.
  • Windows 10 or later for SSH sessions.
  • Permission to start remote sessions.

Step-by-step

  1. Open the EPM agent application on the user’s desktop.
  2. Select the credential you want to use for the remote session.
  3. Check the Session status in the right panel. You can only start a session if the status is Available.
  4. Click the Start session button.
    • For RDP: A mstsc window will open, connecting automatically to the target.
    • For SSH: The Command Prompt will open using OpenSSH.
  5. After completing your tasks, end the session as usual. All logs and audits will be available in PAM Core reports.

The reports in PAM Core > Access control include all sessions started from Vault, ensuring full traceability.

Attention

SSH sessions via Vault can only be started on Windows 10 or later.
