How to connect to a remote device with RDP Proxy

This document provides information about a step-by-step guide on how to make a connection to a Segura server using any RDP client.

Once connected to Segura RDP Proxy, you must fill in the authentication data and the data of the remote device to be connected.

Requirements

  • Have a Remote Desktop Proxy application installed.

Connect to a remote device

  1. Open the Remote Desktop Connection app of your preference.
  2. On the Computer field, type the IP address or the Segura hostname.
  3. The User name field is optional and can be filled in when requested on the Segura home screen.
    1. If you wish to fill in, enter the username used to access the vault.
  4. Click Connect.
  5. In the Segura initial window, enter the necessary data:
    1. Segura Credentials section:
      1. Username: user registered in the vault to be accessed.
      2. Password: password of the user accessing the vault.
      Attention

      When your password is reset or expires, the RDP Gate will display a message warning that the password needs to be changed and display the steps that the user must take to register a new password through the web interface.

    2. Target device section:
      1. Device: IP address or hostname of the device to be accessed.
      2. Username: credential of the device to be accessed.
      3. Personal password (optional field): if a personal credential is used, enter the credential password.

        If the device supports the use of personal credentials, provide the personal credential in the username field and fill in the personal password field.

  6. Click Access.
    1. In sessions where the MFA Token is enabled, enter the number generated by the token in this step.
  7. If a presentation banner appears, with an initial message, click OK.

After these steps, the session will start and ready for use.

Typing input anonymization

To enable anonymization for 30 seconds during a session, follow the steps below:

  1. With the RDP Proxy session open, press the following keys on your keyboard:
    1. Ctrl + Alt + Shift
  2. A message will appear indicating that the function has been enabled and will remain active for 30 seconds.

Use the session normally during these 30 seconds, any text you type will be shown as asterisks in the session's text log.

After the 30-second period, you can repeat the action to enable the function again.
