RDP Proxy

Prev Next

Segura® RDP Proxy is a service available on port 3389 through the RDP protocol that will audit target RDP connections.

It mediates all the functionalities available in a common RDP connection between a Microsoft Windows device, without interfering with the user's operator experience, but with all the security and audit guarantees of Segura®.

Any device that offers the RDP protocol connection can be connected as long as it’s aligned with the security levels offered, while Segura® acts as a server (in communication between the user's workstation with the Segura®), or as a client (in communication between the Segura® and the target server device).

  1. Support for Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and higher.
  2. Support for Linux XRDP servers version 0.9.x and higher.
  3. Support for RAIL session connection.
  4. Support for Kerberos authentication configuration for RDP Proxy sessions and RDP connections via Web Proxy.
Attention

In Windows environments, it’s important to create stricter security policies. To better understand and download the complete guide, access the About security settings for RDP Proxy and RemoteApp document.

Supported protocols

  • RDP versions 5.2 or higher.
Info

Segura® authenticates on the target device using the native protocols for the requested session.

Supported clients and platforms

RDP Proxy is validated with the following operating systems and RDP clients on the user's workstation.

Operating system RDP client Minimum versions
Windows Remote Desktop N/A
macOS Windows App macOS 12 (Monterey) and Windows App 11.3.5

Sessions use the standard RDP port 3389 on both operating systems. The Apple Remote Desktop port 3283 is not used and does not affect the connection.

On macOS with the Windows App, privileged sessions provide the same session controls and audit coverage available on Windows: session recording and recording download, livestream, remote session close, user interaction block and unblock, bidirectional text clipboard, RemoteApp, justification and approval workflows, and sessions started from a .rdp file. More information in How to connect to a remote device with RDP Proxy.

Attention

RDP clients other than those previously listed, such as FreeRDP and Parallels RDP, are not certified by Segura® and may exhibit unexpected behavior.
