How to import a personal certificate

This document provides information on how to import a personal certificate that already exists in your organization, and you want Segura to manage it.

You can manually add a variety of certificate types, including .cer, .pfx (private key included, no need to import the key), .p7b, .crt, .der, .p12, and .pem.

Requirements

  • A certificate file.
  • A key file, if the certificate has the key.

Import a certificate a personal certificate

To manually import an personal certificate, see the following steps:

  1. On Segura, in the navigation bar, hover over the Products menu and select Certificate Manager.
  2. In the side menu, select Certificates > Personal certificate.
  3. In the top right corner, click Add.
  4. In the Certificate file * field, choose the certificate file.
  5. In the Key file * field, choose the key file.
  6. In the Key password, insert the key password. The password can have up to 72 characters, including uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and the symbols. Passwords can have up to 72 characters, including uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and the symbols ! % @ # ^ * _.
  7. In the Revocation password, insert the revocation password. The criteria for this password are the same as the one for Key password field.

    Although adding a Revocation password isn't mandatory, it's highly recommended. Certificates lacking this password can be revoked unintentionally by anyone with access to the CA.

  8. In the Certificate type * field, select the certificate type.
  9. Click Save.

On the Certificates A1 page, you'll see the certificate you just imported.

The newly imported a personal certificate will appear on the Personal certificate report screen.
