This document provides the necessary steps to start a session in Segura® Browser.
Requirements
- Have Segura® Browser updated on your device.
- Have an activation token previously generated in Segura® Platform.
Start a session
- Open Segura® Browser on your workstation and authenticate.
- On the Segura® Browser home screen, locate the credential and click Start session.
Segura® Browser also supports sessions where authentication is required before the page loads. In these cases, the automation uses the --username [user] and --password [pass] fields to fill in the configured credential and complete the authentication.
- (Optional) Sessions conducted through Segura® Browser may be automatically recorded depending on your configuration. When enabled, a pop-up will appear informing you that the session will be recorded, and you must confirm to proceed. This confirmation is required to start the session; if you don’t agree, the session won’t be initiated. During the recorded session, a visual recording indicator will appear on the corresponding tab.
To review recorded sessions and access the videos, go to PAM Core > Audit > Sessions > Remote sessions in the Segura® Platform. More information in How to manage a remote session.
Session recordings made through Segura® Browser follow retention and storage policies. More information in Logs and data purge.
Session in new tabs
When you open a link in a new tab from an active session, the new tab may keep the original navigation context, depending on the environment configuration. This context may include authentication, cookies, and other temporary session data.
When the new tab is opened from a privileged session, it may be registered as a separate session for recording and audit purposes.
End session
Sessions started in Segura® Browser can end in the following situations:
- Inactivity: the session ends automatically after 15 minutes without user interaction. Before this limit, Segura® Browser keeps the session active temporarily, reducing interruptions caused by short pauses.
- Remote termination: administrators can end Segura® Browser sessions remotely through PAM Core or the platform’s Emergency panel.
- User action: the session can also be ended manually by the user, according to the browser or accessed application flow.
