About reissuing

Prev Next

Reissuance is the process of generating a new instance of the same certificate. It replaces the existing certificate with a new one, maintaining the same domain and organization validations, but allowing updates such as a new private key or CSR (Certificate Signing Request).

Currently, Certificate Manager only supports reissue for certificates signed by GoDaddy.

When should I reissue a certificate?

Reissue certificates in scenarios such as:

  • Installation on a new machine, but loss of the original file.
  • Private key compromised (revoke the previous one after reissuance).
  • Inability to export the private key from the original server.
  • Need for a new CSR to update configurations, without extending validity.
